Would you, Could you, leave your pets behind?

A rescue helicopter hovers over you as you sit perched atop the roof of your home as flood waters lap at your feet and the spray from the wind and helicopter smashes into your face to the point you can barely see. Someone in orange latched to a rope descends towards you telling you to remain calm. Your dog of 6 years is barking and whining and you are scared for her more than for yourself.

Read the rest of this over at The Swear Jar.

I think I just wrote one of the hardest blogs ever. I had to stop in the middle of it and just cry. My whole body sobbed when writing this.

"The America We All Want"

I received an email today from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). It described how Obama is the clear choice for the GLBT community. I think so to. If you want to show your support, go to HRC.org. I am hoping that the next 4 years won't be full of worries with gay marriage bans and discrimination. Things might finally be looking up for a community that has had a black cloud over its head for way too long.

I should be sleeping

Yes, I said it! I should be in bed right now. This past weekend I have been falling asleep at 9pm, 10pm and 11pm respectfully. Now, for some reason, tonight I have this strange bout of insomnia. It may be because I am excited about this new blog collab, but it also may be because I have found a renewed interest in writing my thoughts down instead of vlogging all the time.

Don't get me wrong, I will definitely still remain vlogging, only now I will disperse my divine wisdom in multiple formats for the masses to connect to. (Did I mention I am delirious with sleep deprivation?)

The evening was full of slot machines and smoke. People were crunched in an abnormally long line waiting to receive their coveted entry into the Monday slot tournament. I stood there with my girlfriend as she and I waited for SOME kind of movement. We finally made it through and joined her Step-Mom and friend at the buffet.

Dinner was great, especially since it is free (the step-mom gets two free buffets a day because of her rewards card status) and because the food was quite fresh today. We sat after eating and just chatted about the recent Haynesville Shale discovery here in the area and killed some time before my girlfriend's round in the tournament started.

I sat at a slot machine while I watched her slap the spin button over and over. They play fun and upbeat music in that area for the tourney and so my girl was grooving in her seat to the beat! She had a smile on her face and looked to be having a good time in her 7 minutes of free slot play in hopes of placing in the tournament.

I was not doing very well sitting at the Double Diamonds penny machine. I only put in a 5 and was betting a penny per 9 lines, so I didn't really expect too much. It lasted more than the 7 minutes however.

I have won and I have lost. I have most likely lost more than I have won so why do we do it? Why do we sit down at the damn machine, KNOWING that the odds are against us the minute we do? Because that one time, just that simple one time that you decide to bet 90cents, you might win $500 or more!

Gambling is a crazy thing. I don't do it often. I probably shouldn't do it when I do, but every now and then... it is nice to walk away with over $900 in your hand after two visits to the same machine. Probably will never happen again, but then again... it is a Gamble ... right?

Something New? A Blog Collab did you say?

It seems that I have not blogged on this site for almost 2 years now. I usually blog on MySpace or Vlog on YouTube. NOW I have been asked to be in a blog collaboration, if you will, with an old friend of mine that was there in the very beginning.

I will keep you up to date on where when why and how this is going to happen. Until then... THIS is your tease!!!!

Peace,
True
